RECIPE FOR VALENTINE’S DAY BRIE EN CROUTE

Many hosts carouse the special occasions and events such as Valentine's day, with extensive appetizer spreads, either as a preface to a large gala dinner or all by themselves for a Valentine's day gathering or a party.

- Yields: 8-12 Servings
1Heat oven to 400 degrees.
2Beat egg and water in a small bowl with a fork. Unfold the pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Roll sheet into a 14-inch square.
3Spread preserves on the pastry to within 2 inches of the edge. Sprinkle with cranberries and almonds. Place cheese in the center and fold the pastry up over the cheese to cover.
4Trim excess pastry and press to seal. Brush the seam with the egg mixture. Place seam-side down on a baking sheet. Decorate with pastry scraps, if desired. Brush with egg mixture.
5Bake for 20 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. Let stand 45 minutes. Serve with crackers.
